Craziness

The last couple of weeks have been super crazy. Last week Ryan threw out his back at the gym and this week I have a cold. We’ve been holding together pretty well and had a nice relaxing three day Memorial weekend. I did want to document a few of the things that Preston has done in the last couple of days. We started putting him in his Bumbo. It is a little seat that helps them sit up by themselves. Normally babies start using it around 3 months but Preston is ahead of the game by using it at 6 weeks.

Preston also has been a big help to me by entertaining himself in his rocking chair. I think he must love staring at his Palm trees on the wall or something.

Preston has also started to be able to see things above him. I put him in his crib and turned on his mobile and he has started to look at it and see the different shapes and colors.

On that note we have started using Preston’s “Activity Center”. This was a present from his Great Grandma and Grandpa Bowman. It is a little pad that has bright colors and shapes. There is a hang down that he can grab and when he kicks his feet it makes noise. He loved it the first time we put him in it!

For Memorial day we got to spend a lot of time at Grandma and Grandpa Bond’s. Friday night they actually watched Preston for us while Ryan and I made a quick trip to the mall and to dinner. It was a great first date. Thank you!! We also got to take Preston swimming. The first time we tried he didn’t seem to mind, but the second time we tried when everyone was watching he decided he wanted to take a nap instead.

Happy Mother’s Day

Every day Preston is learning new things about his body and how it works. The last couple of days he has started to learn about his voice and has been making some fun sounds. Today after one of his naps he was happy and playing. We were able to catch a few of the sounds on tape and thought we would post it so that Preston could tell all of his Grandma’s Happy Mother’s Day. Thanks for all you do!

Remember when

I found myself saying tonight “Do you remember when….” I can’t believe that I am already saying that and Preston is barely a month old! So I figured I would try to write down all of the “remember whens” in hopes that it will help me actually remember them. My remember when for tonight was: Do you remember when Preston would scream while getting his diaper changed? The first few days after we brought Preston home from the hospital he would scream and scream anytime we would change his diaper or clothes. But by the end of the first week his changing pad became his “Happy Place”. Whenever we take him to change his diapers and lay him down on his pad he stops crying. It may be because in the beginning I would change his diaper before I fed him so he learned that after a diaper change he would get to eat. Needless to say we love having a “Happy Place”, but we do remember when he hated getting his diaper changed!

Last Night…

Last night deserves a post all it’s own. Preston had kind of a rough drive home from Vegas but last night he went to sleep around 11 pm and didn’t wake up until 4:20 am! I actually woke up before he did and went to check to make sure he was ok. It took me awhile to fall back asleep because I was so awake after getting over 5 hours of straight sleep! Then Preston slept until 8 am so that was 5 hours followed by 3.5 hours. He must have been exhausted from his week in Vegas!!

Las Vegas

This week Ryan had a work conference in Vegas. I didn’t want to stay home all week by myself so Preston and I went with him. Preston did amazing for only being a month old! On the drive there we only had to stop once to feed him. The first night was a little rough because he had been in his carseat all afternoon and he knew he wasn’t at home, but after we got him asleep he was fine.

One of Ryan’s coworkers (Carson) brought his wife (Ginnie) and 2 month old baby (Ella).  Ginnie and I had a lot of fun taking the babies places. Everyone got a kick out of watching us walk through the casino’s and stores with two strollers and babies. :) It’s amazing how long it took us just to get to the car and get in and out of it with the strollers and car seats! The babies were really good at waking each other up too. When Preston would get upset his crying would wake up Ella. It was so sad to have to listen to two babies crying in the car! We were always happy to get to our destination so they would stop and we could comfort them!

Preston still likes to sleep on me during the day, so when I tried to leave him in the stroller all day he wasn’t very satisfied. So luckily Ginnie had brought her frontpack and she let us borrow it. It was a lifesaver because Preston loved it! Thank you Ginnie!!! He actually didn’t want to be in his stroller at all after I first started using it. Let’s hope we can get him back in the habit of liking the stroller now that we are back at home!

While we were in Vegas my Great Aunts came to visit and meet Preston. He was awake when they got there so they got to see him awake and asleep as his nap started shortly after they got there. We also got to meet up with one of my old college roommates, Nancy Ball. She loved holding Preston! It made her miss her own nieces and nephews though!

In Vegas we were able to go to one of Ryan’s favorite restaurants Cafe Rio. We also got to go to a new restaurant in Vegas called Serendipity….yes the famous one from New York. It just opened in April. They are famous for their frozen hot chocolate. However, their other desserts looked too good to resist so we didn’t even try the hot chocolate. I guess we’ll have to go back!

One other exciting thing that happened was we were both able to get new iPhones. We had cracks in them that could later affect their functionality so they replaced them for free. That was very exciting for Ryan!

Our short trip to vegas was a lot of work, but a lot of fun too! It’s amazing how much more work it takes to go on vacation with a baby! But Preston and I got a lot of practice on things like eating in public and shopping together. Thanks dad for letting us come with you!

Preston’s First Bath

We were finally able to give Preston his first bath in the bath tub. He loved it! He just sat there and let us do whatever we wanted! The only time that he started crying was when we took him out and put his clothes back on.
