We had a lot of fun this weekend hanging out with family. On Saturday we played in the pool with Preston’s new whale float. He wasn’t sure about it at first, but I think he ended up liking it.

Grandpa got Preston a swing for his backyard. He loved it!

For Father’s Day Preston made Ryan a tie with his footprints and handprints.

This weekend Preston found his feet. He grabs his toes all the time now! He has even starting grabbing at his toys and actually getting them in his hands.

We ended the weekend with Preston sleeping for 8 hours in his own crib! What an amazing weekend!

So this week has been pretty calm compared to the last month. It was nice to be able to relax just a little. Preston has been doing good. He has started responding more and more to our faces and voices. Every night when Ryan comes home from work he sits down with Preston and they just smile and laugh together. It is so much fun to watch them interact and know how much they love each other. I am so blessed to get to live with the 2 best boys in the whole world!
I have started to go back to the gym and 6 am. Not sure why I am being crazy, but what else am I doing during at that time? They had an opening for Ryan at the gym for the 7 am slot, which is perfect for him. So Friday was our first day of playing “trade the baby”. I got up and went to my appt at 6 and then Ryan got up and got Preston in the car and brought him to me at the gym so that he could workout at 7. It worked out pretty well. Ryan got to listen to Preston play in the car which was really fun for him. Hopefully it keeps working good so that we can stay healthy for our little boy. Preston has had a little trouble in the car this week though. I think he gets lonely. Last weekend he had his Grandpa by him for the whole trip and was spoiled with someone to play with. I always feel so bad when I go out during the day and he has to sit by himself. Hopefully soon he will learn to play with his toys so he won’t get bored and cry.
Since there wasn’t anything else exciting happening this week I thought it might be time to try to have Preston sleep in his own crib. Since he’s been home from the hospital he has mostly slept in the bassinet by our bed in his sleep positioner. He has been a really good sleeper and nights normally go really well for us. So last night I moved the sleep positioner into his crib and tried to put him in there. The first couple of times I tried to lay him down his eyes popped open and he saw his pirate mobile and woke all the way up. (He loves laying in his crib during the day and watching his pirate mobile.) Once I finally got him to sleep around 10 pm, he slept until almost 4 am and then he slept after that again until 7:30. So I think it was pretty successful. The only thing that worries me is that Ryan woke up to his crying before I did. It worries me a little bit that I didn’t hear his little whimpers and he was crying before I got to him, but hopefully I will get better at hearing him.
I think that’s all the news for this week. Make sure to check our photo albums for new pictures. The daily ones that I take for Ryan are in the “SmugShot” album.

To finish our weekend off we got to go to Neil’s graduation in Santa Barbara on Saturday. We left Bakersfield around 7 am so that we could avoid the traffic. We succeeded and ended up getting there early and doing a little shopping. The ceremony was super hot! In fact almost everyone got sunburned. It was really tricky to keep Preston out of the sun. But luckily Grandpa bought him an umbrella that we propped on our laps to help cover him up. After the ceremony we went to dinner in Ventura. It was really fun to finally meet Neil’s family. And Preston was SO good all day long. I just kept being amazed at how good he was. It was a super long day and we didn’t make it home until about midnight. Preston made up for being so good during graduation by being fussy during the day and night on Sunday and Monday. Finally on Monday night he was starting to get back to his normal sleeping routine and today he is acting more like himself. Guess that’s what I get for dragging a 10 week old baby to two graduation ceremonies in one weekend!

On Friday Ryan’s sister Molly graduated from California State University Bakersfield with a Bachelor’s Degree is Marketing. The ceremony was at 7 am. It was super early but was well worth it because it was so nice outside! Preston did really good the whole time and it was a lot of fun to spend the day with the family. For Molly’s graduation present we blew up a bunch of balloons and put money in them. Then we had her open a box that had a push pin in it. It was a lot of fun to watch her pop all the balloons to get the money out.

We started out this week a little rough with dad having to go to the doctor because he was sick followed by my family leaving and then having to get shots for Preston. Luckily Preston has been pretty good after his shots. I did have to give him tylenol last night and tonight but he has just wanted to cuddle for the most part. The good news is that he weighed in at 11 lbs 14 ozs and 25 inches long. That puts him at average for weight and in the 95th percentile for height…the same as an average 4 month old! Everything checked out good and hopefully he will continue to grow healthy!
