Last Friday we took Preston to his first Dodger’s game. Everyone thought he was the cutest person there! He did really good in the beginning of the game and at bed time he ate and fell asleep on my lap. But the drunk guys behind us kept yelling really loud and waking him up so we ended up leaving after the 7th inning. Ryan had hoped to get good pictures of the field, but they wouldn’t let him bring his big lens in, so we just have pictures of the fam.
I just wanted to take a minute to say how grateful I am for how good of a sleeper Preston is and how good of a dad Ryan is. From the very first day that Preston was born he was only woken up at night to eat and then almost immediately gone back to sleep. Last night was the first night that he woke up at 3 am and was just wide awake. I don’t know what to do with a baby who is awake in the middle of the night. All I know how to do is feed him and go back to sleep. But luckily I have an amazing husband who knows how to help both Preston and me by stepping in and helping out. We finally got him back asleep (on me in our bed) by 5. It was a crazy night, but I am grateful that Ryan has the patience our family needs when my patience is gone. And thank you Preston for being such a good sleeper from the beginning that I never even noticed it.
Honey’s surprise party was a total hit! She never saw it coming. It was a lot of fun to put it together and to meet a lot of the family that I have only heard stories about. You can see all of the pictures of Honey in our album page, but here is a few pictures of Preston with Honey and with his cousin Hayden.
Ok I know that I bugged all of you forever about this cake, so here it is. Thank you for all of your input, recipes and ideas!! The cake was for Ryan’s Grandma (Honey)’s surprise 75th birthday. I think her favorite thing to eat is cake and ice cream, so I knew she had to have a pretty cool cake.
Sorry I haven’t updated anything in a while. It seems like there is so much going on all the time and I forget about taking the time to jot the little things down. Preston has been waking up more during the night. It is at least 2 sometimes 3 times now. At first I thought maybe it was a growth spurt, but now that we are going on the third week of it I’m starting to think it’s something different. Maybe teething? Who knows. The good part is that he is very good about going to bed. We start getting ready for bed around 8-8:15. Put on jammies, read a story, say prayer, get swaddled and then eat. Then I put him in his crib awake with the pacifier and he falls asleep. Storytime is the best part. Dad reads him the story every night and he loves it! He always has the biggest grins. (Sorry I don’t have any pictures, Preston sits on my lap while dad reads sitting in front of him) We have started to swaddle him with one arm out and he seems to do pretty well. Since he was already waking up so much I figured it couldn’t hurt. Tonight we also took the sleep positioner out of the crib for the first time. We’ll see how he does.
We have started to put Preston in his jumperoo. He likes it most of the time. He still can’t touch the ground but he likes to be in that position. He will play a lot longer in it when I have the tv on. Preston still loves watching tv. Last Saturday Ryan and I were getting ready in the bathroom and we put Preston on the bed and Ryan turned cartoons on for him. He just sat there sucking on his hands. It was really funny. We have decided to invest in some classic cartoons after watching one that had little sushi’s jumping on the screen….
I think his carseat strike is over. He is normally happy with me in the car. He does like to be sung to though. I think it reminds him that he is not alone in the car. He also loves to be sung to everywhere we are at. His favorite song for daddy to sing him is Old McDonald had a Farm. My favorite song to sing him is Do Your Ears Hang Low. At night time Dad sings him Twinkle Twinkle and I sing him I am a Child of God and I Love to see the Temple while I burp him. I am trying to get him to clap when we sing songs but we aren’t quite there yet.
I have decided to only go to the gym to train one morning a week. Preston has been a champ and has sleep almost every day during the trading process, but with the money it is costing us and the missed sleep it just wasn’t working. So we joined back up with Body Exchange where I can do my cardio during the rest of the week. I will be happy when Preston is 6 months so that he can go to the kid care and I can go whenever I want during the day.
We have decided that it is time to start looking for a new home for our dog Jack. We love both of our dogs so much, but they are both being neglected with the new addition to our family. Jack would be so much happy with a family that had time to play with him. And Harley would be a lot happier to be able to get his toys back and be able to have some attention again. It breaks our hearts to have to give him away, but we really think that he will be happier this way. So if you know of the perfect home for him please let us know.
I am trying to work on getting Preston on a schedule. I finally bought an app for my iPhone that helps me keep track of it. It’s pretty funny that this is the first app that I personally bought. It’s kind of addicting. If anyone knows of any tricks to getting him on a normal day time nap schedule let me know!
I think that’s about all that’s going on in the Bond house. Here’s a couple of my favorite pictures of Preston that I took with my phone….
Last night we had a Harry Potter Party to help get us ready for the movie coming out next week. For some reason Preston loves playing on his tummy on the Hanna’s rug. So I put him down this week and all of a sudden he rolled over. He didn’t get stuck on his side or anything. I was so shocked I just sat there. Finally Brooke picked him up and handed him to me and told me to give him a kiss and tell him he did a good job. He did roll over two more times right after that too so it wasn’t just a fluke. I still can’t believe my baby is so big already!!! He needs to slow down!
We had a great fourth of July this year. We started out with our annual ward pancake breakfast. We had a lot of fun and Preston was interested in balloons for the first time.
That afternoon we were having a progessive dinner party. We started out at our pool to have dinner and swim. And then we went to the Hanna’s for dessert and fireworks. It was a lot of fun.
Preston loved the fireworks! He had as much fun watching the fireworks as he does watching tv at home!
