First Tooth!

Today I found Preston’s first tooth had cut through the gums. He was at our friend Brooke’s house yesterday while I was visiting at the hospital and she said she saw it then, so who knows which day it actually came through, but he has one! He has been up a lot at night lately and he had a runny nose and cough last week, but besides that it wasn’t too painful. I hope all of the teeth are like that!!! I’ll post a picture as soon as I can get him to hold his mouth open long enough!

5 month pictures

I went and got his pictures taken again and there are way too many cute ones to decide which is our favorite. So here are a few of them, and you can see the rest on our photo gallery page.

4 month pictures

I’ve been meaning to scan these in for a while. When Preston turned 4 months (so back on August 6th) I took him to get his picture taken at Sears. They did a pretty good job. I did somehow lose the cute hat on the way home though. :(

What’s New

There have been so many things going on lately that I can hardly keep track of what day it is! Two weeks ago tomorrow I put an ad on craig’s list to try and find a better home for Jack. I was surprised to find how quickly I got responses. Luckily I think we found a great home for him. A 12 year old boy needed a new friend. We hope that Jack is having fun and doesn’t miss us too much. It was a hard decision but as I watch Harley playing with us more now I realize that it was the best decision for everyone.

While we were in Utah Ryan and I went to look at piano’s. I am so lucky to have a husband who loves me so much! I know there were a lot of other things that he wants to buy right now, but he bought me a piano. We bought it from the music store in Utah that we trusted and I’ve known since I was a teenager. They delivered it last Thursday. We had to have someone come tweak it a little this week and now it is playing wonderfully. I am so excited and so grateful to be able to have music in our home.

My Piano

We have also been redoing our entertainment center. What a project that has been!! It took a week to tear down the old one, a week to assemble the new one, and this week we have been trying to finish putting it together and finishing all the final touches. I know that Preston will be excited to have it completely done because he can have his living room floor back to play on!

While all of this has been going on Preston continues to grow and get cuter every day. He is already over 16 lbs. That’s almost double his birth weight! He rolls over all of the time. He scoots around in circles (while laying on his back), he loves jumping in the jumperoo. And today he actually started sitting up long enough for me to walk to the kitchen and back. I can’t believe how big he is getting! We also bought his next carseat. We haven’t installed it, it is still sitting in the front hall. So while I was playing the piano this week I put him in it and he fell asleep. He looks so small in it!

Oh and before I forget, my sister Stephanie came last weekend. She came to get my keyboard because I have my piano now. She came with my cousin Nicole. They got here at 4 am on Saturday and left at 6 am on Sunday. It was a short visit but Preston was excited to see his aunt again.

Trip to Utah

We had a great trip up to Utah to visit my family. We started the trip a little sleep deprived because Preston had a few rough nights right before we left. And the whole time we were in Utah he really struggled being able to sleep in a foreign bed. Luckily we were both able to go and help each other out when we needed it. On our way down to the airport we stopped to see Molly’s new apartment and got to meet Neil’s niece Maya. Preston and Maya are about two months apart.

Preston did really good on the airplane. He was so excited when we first got on that he had to look out the window right away! He wasn’t able to sleep at all because there was so many new things to look at who could sleep at a time like that?

The first day we were there we headed up to Logan for a mini family reunion. It was fun to see all the family again and for Preston to meet all of his Aunts and Uncles and cousins. He even got to meet his Great Great Grandma.

Preston loved having so many people around to play with him all the time. There was always so much going on that he didn’t want to miss! He learned that the calmest place was the car so he started taking his naps in the car. (We are still struggling with getting him to take a nap anywhere else during the day and we’ve been home over a week!) We did have to do a lot of driving though so I don’t blame him.

While we were there he was able to sit in Grandma’s highchair at breakfast every morning. We also thought that we would try putting him in a highchair at a restaurant. The first restaurant was perfect because they had table cloths on the table and all he wanted to do was chew on the table. The second time we put him in a highchair he even decided that he was big enough to have his own fortune cookie and to pay his portion of the bill. :)

One day we went to Raging Waters to spend a day cooling off from the 100 degree heat that we accidentally brought with us. I didn’t bring his sippy cup on the trip with us so he got to drink from a water bottle for the first time. I think he really like it. He has liked playing with empty water bottles for some time now.

While we were in Utah Preston’s eczema flared up really bad. His eye that has the blocked tear duct also got really swollen. So my mom made us go to their Pediatrician while we were there. His eye was looking better by the time of the appointment, but she still made us go. I am SO glad that we did though. He gave us some really helpful advice about what to do with his eczema and we had it cleared up by the time we got home with an otc medicine instead of the strong steriod that our pedi at home had prescribed. His eye ended up being nothing more than normal so we were happy about that. But we do know now that we aren’t going back to our pediatrician here and we will be finding another one. (Also because the last couple of appointments I have waited 2-3 hours which is very unprofessional in my opinion. Not to mention not feasible for an infant to have to wait that long.)

Our way home was uneventful and Preston was even able to sleep for half of the plane ride. We were happy to be home and to try to get Preston back to a normal routine. However we also decided that it was time to redesign our entertainment center to make it a little more child proof. So we have been working on that since we have been home. It’s been a crazy mess at our house that’s for sure!

Preston continues to grow and change every day. He loves to be in his jumperoo right now and will jump around for almost an hour sometimes. He has also started this new thing this week where he loves to stick out his tongue…not sure what that’s about but maybe it has to do with him continuing to adjust to eating his cereal. We also tried to give him sweet potatoes the other day, but I think I am going to wait a little bit longer on that until he is in a real schedule of eating his cereal. Right now he wants to eat some days and doesn’t want to other days.

Week of First’s

**This post was supposed to go up before our trip to Utah, sorry for the delay**

This week has been full of a lot of new things for Preston. Last weekend we took him swimming at Grandma’s house. Ryan decided that he was big enough to go all the way under. So here’s a little video of Preston learning how to swim under water. Ryan blew in his face and he would stick out his tounge, go under water and when he came back up his tounge was still sticking out. It was really cute.

At dinner that night Ryan also let Preston suck on a piece of watermelon. He is very interested in what we are eating and everything we are doing at the table. So when we went to the doctor on Monday I asked if it was time to start giving him food yet. She said it was time to start with some cereal and we could also start to give him some water in a sippy cup.
