Preston has been pretty cranky the last few days. And at night time he has had a temperature in the low 99’s for the last 3 or 4 days. On Tuesday night when he went to bed it was just over 100. On Wednesday morning it was back to normal, but by lunch time it was back up to 100. So we made a trip to the doctor. He said it was just a little cold virus and to treat with Tylenol and a humidifier. So we are watching him closely. Sometimes he acts completely normal and other times you can really tell that he doesn’t feel good. I hope that he feels better soon though! Last night we got him to bed at the normal time and then he woke up around 10:30 and was awake and as smiley as ever. It was so funny that we had to to take video of our “sick” baby at 10:30 pm. He was of course awake until 12:30 after that but he sure got some good smiles to make it worth it!
Just as a side note Preston went to sleep without me on Tuesday night. I had a church meeting that I had to go to and we thought it would be a good test. Ryan said it wasn’t too hard so that is good news that Preston didn’t need me to go to bed!!!
Since Preston was about 2 months old I have been going to a weekly class they have at the hospital for all new moms and their babies. It has been fun to go and get tips on what things to do to help Preston and to make some friends. Preston loves being with the other kids. Here’s some pictures for our Halloween party this week.
I thought it would be fun to get pictures of Preston inside a pumpkin. I was really surprised because he didn’t want to sit down he only wanted to stand in it. But I think he had fun. And of course he went straight to the bath afterwards!
Last week we went to the local pumpkin patch for play group. Preston had just taken a nap so he wasn’t all smiles, but I think we still got some cute pictures in his costume.
Today we went to Preston’s 6 month check up. He weighs 17 lbs 12 oz and is 28 inches long. He is doing well and was a champ for his shots. He even gave the nurse a big smile after she was done. It is amazing how fast he is growing up and all of the things that he does now. He loves to sit up and play with his toys. He also loves to roll around and play too. He also gets in the crawling position so we know that that is coming soon. I want him to know how much we both love him. He has brought such joy and happiness into our lives. I can’t imagine life without those sweet smiles every morning. Here are some pictures we took on his 6 month birthday.
This last weekend we took Preston to visit my Grandparents in Memphis TN and Eagle Rock MO. We started the trip on Thursday and went to stay with Molly and Neil who took us to the airport bright and early on Friday morning. (THANK YOU!!!) Preston was really good on the plane and I didn’t even have to stand up with him for the whole 4 hour flight. When we got there my grandparents were so excited to see him.
On Saturday my Grandpa drove us to go see my Grandma (an eight hour drive). Preston was really good in the car. He only cried or fussed when it was time to fall asleep. We have definitely decided that he sleeps better in the car when no one is sitting next to him. Weird, but whatever. We were able to stay with my Grandma Saturday night and even got to see my Uncle Denver. We had a lot of fun taking Preston outside to play with sticks. Unfortuantely it was pretty cold and his nose was red within minutes so we didn’t get to stay outside long.
We drove back to Memphis on Sunday afternoon. On Monday we went with my Grandpa to buy a new car. Someone ran into his car last week and the insurance company totaled it. Preston had fun playing with everyone in the car while we waited.
On Tuesday it was raining all day so we did a little shopping and trying to stay inside. On Wednesday Preston surprised us with a two hour nap right before we left. However on the plane ride home it was very long and involved a lot of trips to the aisle way. It also included about 20 mins of him screaming with nothing we could do for him. He was so good the whole trip that I really can’t even complain about the plane ride home. Overall it was a great trip and we had a lot of fun.
I can’t believe my baby is six months old!!! We had a half birthday party on Sunday because all the family was in town. Preston had a lot of fun playing with everyone.
